Briefly, the highest profile events I’ve been to that I think you might be interested in are: 2. The Care Leaver’s Award. Siobhan and I presented an award and we met a number of performers such as Nathan, Egypt, Lee Henry and Darae. I also met that sexy guy from The Bill (Aml). I’ve got so much more to tell you, but Malcolm (adviser to the Young Mayor and Young Advisers) is telling me to stop now. For more information take a look on my webpage!
Who are the Young Mayor of Lewisham and the Young Advisers? Siobhan Bell was voted in by young people throughout the borough of Lewisham to represent them as Young Mayor for 2006 / 7. The Young Mayor and her advisers give young people in Lewisham the opportunity to make their voice heard, so that they can have a real say in the future of their area. As elected representatives, Siobhan and her team are in unique positions and well placed to ensure that young people no longer feel left out the decision making process.
Many young people have opinions on issues such as drugs, the environment, schools, health and safety and much more. But often these are ignored or simply not known about. Through the Young Mayor and her Advisers, everyone’s ideas can now be given voice, both to the wider public, and to the Council. Every year the Young Mayor has a budget of £25,000 to spend, and it is up to YOU to advise her on the things young people need most in Lewisham. Find out more on how to contact Siobhan, and how to make your views known...
